This sounds like an ancient ancestor of one of my fav childhood dishes - Bulgarian mekitsi. Similarly, it’s yummy fried dough, either plain or stuffed with feta cheese; then eaten with raw honey or some homemade fruit jam. Ugh, now I’m hungry!! Great article! :D

Ahh how lovely, I thank you greatly for your endeavours - the food of the ancients is such an interesting topic I rarely come across I'm so glad you decided to pursue the idea! And how timely significant what with the modern Olympics closing (as well as the episode of Great British Bakeoff I was just watching..)
